A Workman is Only as Good as His Tools!

And so after doing the back and sides of the house, it was time to tackle the front. Of course, being the front of the house, we want it to look good so extra effort is being put in to paint the fiddly decorative features. (Note the power lines that could easily have led to another DIY statistic!)Yes, we want to be ‘the Jones’ and have everyone striving to keep up with us! As we are now very practised at the scrubbing, sanding, washing and painting process that should not be a problem. See below for the results after the first coat.Mmmmmmmmmmm! What do you think? Unimpressed with our work so far? We were certainly unimpressed with the results. As you have probably guessed, we had to open and use a new pot of paint after starting the front. Both pots were the same brand, looked the same and tinted to the same shade. However, as you can clearly see, something is different.

Of course, we were not happy so a couple of days later we dumped the paint on the counter of the DIY store, that will remain nameless, and asked for an explanation. To cut to the chase, it was suspected that a ‘light’ base had been used instead of ‘white’. Anyway, to give them their due, the DIY store mixed a new pot of paint without quibbling.

Thankfully, it was plain to see after opening, stirring and applying the first brush load of paint that it was the correct shade and matched the rest of the house. Phew! A picture will follow once one has been taken!
